Field Trip of Dreams

A trip to Boston designed to inspire local teens to find their inner artists.

A white stretch limo made its way down Main Street Thursday night, the passengers on board, a group of local teens and a few chaperones, ready for an evening of adventure and inspiration.

They were heading to Boston for The Blend, a May 10 event organized by Raw: Natural Born Artists/Boston, a local chapter of a national organization created for artists, by artists.

Think of it as a support network/showcase for aspiring artists from a variety of mediums, including art, film, fashion, makeup, photography, music and performance.

Oscar Villacis of Nashua, who is in the process of launching a non-profit youth art program, Untouched Talent, organized a field trip for a group of Nashua teens, to show them that everything is possible if they dream big and find the right support network.

"Raw: Natural Born Artists is a great outreach program, and I thought it would give them an idea of how a show is really run, from behind the scenes," said Villacis.

Limo services were donated for the evening by Platinum Limosene Services of Nashua.

Villacis says his ultimate dream is to recreate that kind of program on a smaller scale here in Nashua, where young people can explore various artistic avenues and then showcase their work to the public.

Villacis is still recruiting board members and looking for a permanent home for the group, although he has begun working with and students from other area high schools, to get some projects going.
